Appliance Removal in Didsbury, Alberta

If you've got an old fridge in the garage or a washer that finally quit, you're not alone. Didsbury is full of older homes and farmhouses where appliances run for years until they don't. And when they go, you're stuck with a heavy hunk of metal that the regular garbage truck won't touch.

I'm TJ. I run a small junk removal outfit based out of Olds, and I cover Didsbury regularly. I haul out old appliances, load them up, and make sure they get disposed of properly — not dumped in a ditch somewhere.

What Appliance Removal Looks Like in Didsbury

Most of my calls in Didsbury come from a few places:

Homes along 20 Avenue and the older streets near downtown — these houses were built in the 60s and 70s, and the original appliances are finally dying. Basement fridges, old stoves, the works.

Farmsteads on the outskirts — a lot of people out on Range Road 280 or out toward the Didsbury Golf Club have multiple fridges and freezers in sheds or machine shops. When one dies, it sits there because nobody wants to deal with it.

Rental properties — landlords in town call me when they're turning over a unit and the tenant left a broken washer or dryer behind. Happens more than you'd think.

How the Job Works

You call or text me. I ask what you've got, where it is, and whether it's hooked up or already pulled out. I give you a price over the phone — no hidden fees, no surprise charges.

I show up in my truck. I do all the lifting. I take the appliance out of your house, garage, basement, or shed. I load it up and get it out of your way. You don't lift a finger.

Then I haul it back to my yard, drain any fluids (fridges and freezers need the compressor drained properly), and take the rest to a scrap metal recycler or the transfer station, depending on what it is. I keep the paperwork.

What It Costs

I charge by the load, not by the item. Most single-appliance jobs run between $100 and $175, depending on how far I have to carry it and whether there are stairs or tight doorways. If you've got two or three appliances, it's cheaper per item because I'm already there with the truck.

I take cash, e-transfer, or credit card. I don't charge extra for same-week service.

Why Didsbury People Call Me

There are a couple junk haulers out of Calgary that'll come up here, but they charge Calgary prices and they take forever to get here. I'm local. I'm usually in Didsbury within a day or two. I know the back roads, I know which houses have the narrow basement stairs, and I know the dump hours.

I also don't cut corners on disposal. Freon in old fridges needs to be handled right. I follow the regulations — I'm not looking to get fined or cause problems for anyone.
