I charge by truck space, plain and simple. A small load that fits in about an eighth of the truck runs $100. A quarter of the truck is $150, half is $250, three-quarters is $375, and a full truck is $500. The minimum for a light pickup is $50.

For a commercial job, the honest answer is that most of you land in the half-truck to full-truck range — a shop clear-out or an office cleanout usually fills more than a quarter. But I'll never push you into a bigger bundle than you need. If I show up and your pile is smaller than what you booked, you pay for what's actually in the truck.

A few things carry an extra fee on top of the bundle: mattresses, tires, concrete, dirt and brick, and fridges or freezers (because of the Freon). If you've got those in your pile, tell me when you call so I can quote you straight. I don't haul wet paint, chemicals, or anything hazardous — if you're not sure about something, ask and I'll tell you the truth.

Working in Carstairs — the practical side

Carstairs is small enough that I know most of the streets, but every commercial job has its own quirks. If your shop is off a back lane or your unit is on the second floor, that's a long carry and it carries an extra fee — not because I'm trying to nickel-and-dime you, but because it genuinely takes more time and more hands. Same deal if there are stairs involved. Tell me about the access when you book, and I'll be upfront about what it adds.

I also sweep up after myself. When I'm done, the floor's cleaner than when I arrived, so you can get back to running your business instead of staring at a pile of junk. And if anything in your load is still usable — old furniture, shelving that's not broken — I'll set it aside for donation on your behalf. That's included in your price too.
