Furniture Removal in Strathmore — No Shortcuts, Just Done Right

I'm TJ. I run a small junk removal truck out of Strathmore, and I've been hauling furniture out of homes here for years. Strathmore isn't Calgary — we're a town where people know each other, and that matters when you're bringing a truck into someone's driveway. Whether you're off Wheatland Trail, up in the Ranchlands area, or on a farm just outside town, I treat every job like I'm helping a neighbour.

This page is about furniture removal specifically. Not general junk. Not construction debris. Couches, bed frames, dressers, tables, chairs, old entertainment centres — the stuff that's heavy, awkward, and doesn't fit in your car.

Why Strathmore Homes Need a Different Approach to Furniture Removal

Strathmore has a mix of housing that changes how furniture removal works. You've got newer builds in places like Strathmore Lakes and Lakeside Greens where the basements are finished and the stairs are tight. Then you've got older homes on the east side near downtown with narrow doorways and basements that weren't built for modern furniture. I've pulled a sectional out of a 1950s bungalow on 2nd Avenue that took twice as long as the same couch coming out of a walkout in Ranchlands — just because of how the house was laid out.

If you live on an acreage outside town, the challenge is different. Sometimes there's a long driveway, sometimes the furniture has been sitting in a shed or garage for years. I'll come to you, no extra charge for being outside the town limits as long as you're within 20 minutes of Strathmore.

What People in Strathmore Usually Need Hauled

The most common call I get is from someone who's had a couch or a recliner in the basement for years and finally decided they're done looking at it. Second most common: a full basement cleanout — old furniture from a rental property or a deceased relative's home. Strathmore has a lot of families who bought their first house here because it's more affordable than Calgary, and they're often dealing with hand-me-down furniture that's past its useful life.

I also do a fair amount of work for landlords who own duplexes or fourplexes around town. When a tenant moves out and leaves a broken bed frame and a stained mattress, that's not something you want to deal with yourself. I can have it out of there in 20 minutes and disposed of properly.

How the Job Works — Local and Straightforward

Here's how it goes:

  1. You call or text me at (825) 559-2766 and tell me what you need gone. I'll ask what kind of furniture, how many pieces, and where in Strathmore you're located.
  2. I give you a flat price over the phone. No hourly rate, no fine print. If I'm hauling a single couch from a main floor in Lakeside Greens, that's one price. If I'm hauling a full three-bedroom house worth of furniture from a basement on Centre Street, that's another. I'll tell you upfront.
  3. We pick a time. I usually can get to Strathmore homes within a couple of days. If you need it done faster, just ask.
  4. I show up with my truck and a couple of helpers if it's a big job. We load everything, sweep up the area, and take it all away.
  5. Whatever can be donated — good-condition furniture — I take to the Strathmore Salvation Army or the Mustard Seed. Anything broken or worn out goes to the Strathmore landfill or gets recycled if possible.

What I Won't Do

I won't quote you one price and show up charging more. I won't leave a mess. And I won't try to upsell you on services you don't need. If you've got one old armchair you want gone, that's fine. I don't have a minimum.

Furniture Removal Pricing in Strathmore

Pricing depends on how much there is and how hard it is to get out. A single couch on the main floor — usually around $100-$150. A full truckload of furniture from a basement or upstairs — $350-$500. If you're not sure, just call and I'll walk you through it. I'd rather give you an accurate number than surprise you.

Frequently asked questions

Do you haul furniture from upstairs or basement apartments in Strathmore?

Yes. I've hauled furniture out of basement suites all over town — including the older ones with narrow stairwells. I'll let you know upfront if it'll take extra time, but the price I quote is what you pay.

Can you take furniture from a storage unit in Strathmore?

Absolutely. I've done pickups at the U-Haul storage on Highway 1 and a few other spots around town. Same process — call me with what's there and I'll give you a price.

What do you do with old furniture that's still in decent shape?

If it's clean and usable, I drop it at the Salvation Army in Strathmore or the Mustard Seed. If it's worn out or broken, it goes to the Strathmore landfill. I don't dump furniture on the side of the road — that's not how I run things.

Do you charge extra for pickup outside Strathmore town limits?

If you're within about 20 minutes of Strathmore — say out towards Carseland or Gleichen — no extra charge. Farther than that, I'll be honest about it when you call.

How fast can you get to a home in Strathmore?

Usually within a couple of days. If you need same-day or next-day service, just ask. I'll do my best to fit you in.
