The Town of Strathmore's waste transfer station at 100 Ranch Market Road does accept mattresses, but you have to haul it there yourself, and they charge by weight. We bring our own moving blankets and straps so we don't scrape your walls or ding your door frames. We also grab the box spring at the same time if you've got one. Most people do. And if there's a bed frame you want gone, tell us when you call and we'll include it.

Where your mattress goes after we take it

We don't dump your mattress in a field or leave it in a back alley. Everything we haul out of Strathmore goes to proper disposal. Mattresses get taken to a facility that handles them the right way — they're not just buried whole, they get broken down and the materials recycled where possible. You get a clear conscience and a clear room.

That's a real consideration here because Strathmore sits close enough to Calgary that some out-of-town operators will haul your mattress back to the city and just leave it at a transfer station there. That's not how we work. We're local, we stay local, and we dispose of everything properly.

What it costs and what changes the price

Pricing is honest and straightforward. A single mattress and box spring in Strathmore starts at the $50 minimum charge plus the mattress disposal fee, and you'll have the exact number before we set out. A few things can change that number:

• How far it has to come out of the house. A mattress in a main-floor bedroom is cheaper than one we're hauling up from a basement suite or down from a second floor.
• How many pieces you have. A mattress plus box spring is the standard. Add a bed frame, a headboard, or an old futon, and the price moves a little.
• Where in Strathmore you are. Pickups out toward Brentwood or the newer areas off of Highway 1 are pretty straightforward. If you're on a tight street or a cul-de-sac, we'll still get in there — it might just take an extra minute.
