TJ's Junk Removal

Garage Cleanout in Balzac, Alberta

Garage Cleanout · Balzac · 3 min read

If you live in Balzac, you know the drill. The garage starts as a place for the truck and the snowblower, and somewhere along the way it becomes the spot where everything that doesn't have a home goes to wait. I'm TJ, and I run TJ's Junk Removal. I've cleaned out more garages in this part of Rocky View County than I can count, and I know exactly what ends up in them out here.

What actually piles up in Balzac garages

Balzac isn't downtown Calgary, and your garage reflects that. Out here people have space, and they use it. I regularly pull out:

  • Old tires and rims — from the ATV, the truck, the winter set you swore you'd sell. I haul them to a proper recycler, not a ditch.
  • Wear parts and scrap metal — brake rotors, exhaust pieces, old fence panels, corrugated tin from a shed that didn't survive a Chinook wind.
  • Lumber and offcuts — from that deck or barn project that's been "almost done" for three summers. Treated and untreated, I take it all.
  • Old appliances — the second fridge that became the beer fridge, then became the junk fridge, then stopped running. I handle the freon and haul it properly.
  • Kids' stuff — bikes with flat tires, the plastic slide, the trampoline frame that's seen better winters.

The mix out here leans heavier on the rural side than in town. If you're off Balzac Gate or near the town centre, it's one thing. If you're out toward the north on a quarter section, it's another. I've seen both.

How a garage cleanout works out here

The job itself is straightforward, but the details matter when you're in Balzac.

First, I come take a look. I'll walk your garage, see what's inside, and give you a flat price on the spot — no surprises, no "well, that's extra" at the end. If it's a full two-car garage packed to the rafters, I'll tell you that up front. If it's a smaller job, I'll tell you that too.

On cleanout day, I bring a crew and the truck right to your driveway. We pull everything out, sort it as we go, and load it. You don't lift a finger unless you want to. I take the recyclables to the right places — metal goes to the scrapyard, tires get recycled, electronics get handled properly. What's left goes to the landfill, and I make sure the load is legal and covered so nothing blows out on the QEII.

Most garage cleanouts in Balzac take a couple of hours. The big ones — the ones where the garage has become a de facto storage shed for a decade — might take half a day. I'll give you a realistic timeline when I quote it.

What it costs

I don't do per-hour pricing because it punishes you for having a messy garage. I price by the load and the size of the job.

A smaller cleanout — a single stall, mostly bags and boxes — usually runs an eighth to a quarter truck, so $100 to $150. Tires carry a small extra fee, and I tell you that upfront. A full two-car garage that's been accumulating for years runs more, because it's more truck space, more trips, more sorting. I'll tell you the number before we start, and that's the number you pay.

One thing I won't do is quote you cheap and then add fees for "hazardous" or "oversized" items halfway through. The price I give you covers what's in your garage. Period.

Balzac neighbourhoods I cover

I work all over the Balzac area — the newer developments off Balzac Gate, the acreages along Range Road 13 and 14, the properties north toward CrossIron Mills, and everything in between. If you're in Balzac, I'm local. I'm based in Airdrie, so I'm ten minutes down the road, not coming from across the city.

If your garage has become a problem you keep walking past, give me a call at (825) 559-2766. I'll come take a look, give you a straight price, and we'll have it emptied before the weekend.

Frequently asked questions

Will you haul away old tires from my Balzac garage?

Yes. I take old tires and rims from ATVs, trucks, and cars and haul them to a proper tire recycler. Just tell me they're in there when I quote the job.

Do I need to sort anything before you arrive?

No. I sort as I load. If you want to keep certain items, set them aside in a corner and I'll work around them. Otherwise I handle everything.

Can you get a truck into my acreage off Range Road 13?

Yes. I work on acreages all over Balzac and Rocky View County. As long as I can back the truck up to your garage door, we're good.

What do you do with scrap metal and old appliances?

Metal goes to the scrapyard to be recycled, and appliances get their freon drained properly before disposal. Nothing goes in a ditch or a landfill that shouldn't.

How fast can you book a garage cleanout in Balzac?

Usually within a few days, sometimes sooner. I'm based in Airdrie, so I'm right up the road. Call me and I'll get you on the schedule.
