Junk Removal in Calgary — No Two Jobs Look the Same

Calgary is a big city with a mix of old and new. You've got pre-war bungalows in Killarney, new infills in Inglewood, sprawling acreages in the deep south, and high-rise condos downtown. What I haul out of a house in Capitol Hill looks nothing like what I pull from a renovation site in Mahogany. That's why I don't do cookie-cutter junk removal. I show up, look at what you've got, and get it done.

I'm TJ. I run a small truck here in Calgary. No franchise fees, no sales scripts, and my minimum charge is just $50 for a small load — so you're never punished for a small job. Just me and my helper loading your junk and taking it where it needs to go, with labor, cleanup, and disposal all included in the price.

What Calgary Homeowners Actually Need Hauled

The jobs I see most often in this city fall into a few categories:

Basement cleanouts. Calgary basements flood sometimes — especially in older neighbourhoods like Bowness, Montgomery, and parts of the northwest. Even a slow leak means soaked drywall, carpet, and stored boxes that have to go. I've also cleared out plenty of basements that just turned into decades of storage. If you can't walk through it, I can take it.

Garage purges. In communities like Cranston, Tuscany, and Aspen Woods, the garage becomes the catch-all. Old bikes, broken shelving, leftover building materials, rusty lawn equipment. I haul it all in one trip so you can actually park your car in there again.

Renovation debris. Calgary's infill boom means a lot of tear-offs and rebuilds. I've cleaned up after kitchen remodels in Mount Pleasant, bathroom gut jobs in Marda Loop, and full demolitions in Bridgeland. I take drywall, lumber, tile, old cabinets, plumbing fixtures — anything that comes out of a reno.

Furniture and appliances. Moving out of a Beltline condo or a rental in University Heights? Leftover couch, mattress, and a broken washer that the landlord won't deal with? I take it all. Mattresses go to a recycler, not a landfill, whenever possible.

Yard waste and fencing. Calgary wind takes down fences every spring. I've hauled rotted cedar, broken fence panels, and tree limbs from neighbourhoods like Signal Hill and Lake Bonavista more times than I can count.

How the Job Works in Calgary

I service the whole city — from the far north in Coventry Hills down to McKenzie Towne in the southeast, and from West Springs out to the east side near Forest Lawn. I don't charge extra for driving across town. My pricing is based on how much space your stuff takes up in my truck, not on where you live inside city limits.

I'll come out and give you a firm price before I unload a single thing. No guessing, no "well, that's extra" once the truck is half full. If I say $375, that's what you pay — and if your load needs an extra-fee item like a mattress or fridge, that's all in the quote up front too.

I take most things. A few exceptions: I can't take hazardous waste (paint cans, chemicals, oil) or asbestos. But old furniture, appliances, electronics, construction debris, scrap metal, tires (up to a reasonable number), and general junk — yes.

Where It All Goes

I sort what I pick up. Metal goes to a scrap yard in the northeast. Mattresses get recycled. Usable furniture I try to donate to local charities if it's in decent shape — thrift stores in the city won't take stained or broken stuff, so I don't waste your time pretending everything is donation-worthy. The rest goes to the Spruce Meadows or Shepard landfill. I try to keep as much out of the ground as I can.

What It Costs

A single item pickup — say, an old couch or a fridge — usually runs $100 to $150, depending on how much truck space it takes up. A truckload of mixed junk from a garage or basement cleanout runs $250 to $500, depending on how full the truck is. A full renovation debris load can go higher if it's heavy material like tile or concrete — and I'll quote that up front. I take cash, debit, credit, or e-transfer. No hidden fees.
